In England there is such a thing as Cockney Rhyming Slang.  (My grandfather was born within the sound of Bow Bells - see the link )

I wonder if there is such a thing in the Turkish culture/language?

For instance in C.R.S.:

                     syrup of fig = wig

                     apples and pears = stairs

                     plates of meat = feet

                     boat race  =  face

                     dog and bone = phone

If there isn´t such a thing in Turkey, then I hope this post has been of some interest and amusement to some who may not have known about this Cockney phenomenon .

We could even make our own T.L.C.R.S.s! (English or Turkish)

eg      Turkey Roast = A Handsom Post

         Garden shed = Locked Thread

         Concert Pianist  =  Columnist

         Volcanic Crater = Moderator

         inflatable float  = quote

Cheese and pickle sandwich = English Language

            Kitchen sink = link

            smoke plume = chatroom

             dinner plate = debate

             bread and jam = spam

So ... "Turkish to English please" would become "Turkish to cheese and pickle sandwich please"
