Selamlar!

What grammar is used to wish for something in Turkish? Do you just use the verb "dilemek"? Or is there a suffix or some part of speech that works better.

An example sentence might be:

"I wish that I were still in a band."

I think if it´s an expression of regret like your example meaning also ´if only´ you use keşke+the past conditional.

keşke olsaydım=If only/I wish I were...........

(I think you use dilemek when you wish someone a nice day or of course özür dilerim-lit. I wish pardon=I apologize)

My try-hope it helps.

keşke gelse : If only she comes

keşke gelseydi : if only she would come

gelmesini diliyorum: I wish her to come
