ben hiç birşey yapmıyordum. bana telefon etmen icin sadece bekliyor sürdürdüm.pencereyi açtım ona yanında oturdum, taze havasında ve rahat etmeyı denedim

"next to " means "near" so you cant translate it by " karşısında"

I would translate this part (in bold type) as: Aramanı bekleyip durdum.
