Hi All,

Could someone please help me with the term "başta olmak üzere"? I know it means "especially" (based on the dictionary definition), but how do I use it in a sentence? Is this a common term?

Thanks in advance!

I am just a learner but I see özellikle used more often for ´especially´.

From this site here is an example of ´başta olmak üzere´ being used

Abu Dabi, MBC ve Suriye kanalları başta olmak üzere Arap kanallarında, Kurtlar Vadisi, Gümüş, Elveda Derken, Yersiz Yurtsuz, Genco, Yabancı Damat, Menekşe ile Halil, Kırık Kanatlar, Kaybolan Yıllar, Bıçak Sırtı isimli diziler yayınlanıyor.

The text says roughly that ´Especially on the Arab channels of the first 3 countries channels (Syrian channels etc), the Turkish serials with these names are being broadcast.´

And another example: Başta Daisyann olmak üzere herkese teşekkür ederim.

My thanks to everybody, especially Daisyann. Smile
