Hi

I know there are a lot of threads and related topics to visas, however I have a question that no one including the UK border agency seems to be willing to enlighten me on.

I am UK citizen and I wish my fiancee to visit the UK for christmas.

However, as I live in Turkey the sponsor letter will be written by my mother.

I do not know which application to complete as we are due to be married in October and we hope he will come to Britain in December.

I hoped to apply for the visa in mid september(get it out of the way so to speak) as we lots of other things to organise.

My question is as at the time of application as we are not married, can I apply for the general tourist visa even though he will he going to visit my mum who technically will be classed as family under their terms by the time of his visit.

Anyone??

Many thanks in advance

They don´t make much difference between a tourist visit and a family visit. The biggest difference in visa´s is between work/schooling and family/tourist. So don´t worry too much about it. I would go for family visit, since you are technically family at the time of the visit. But usually the visa form leaves some room for explanation, so I would explain the situation there. Usually when you fill in family, you also have to fill in the relationship that you have with the sponsot (brother, cousin, etc.) Perhaps that is also the case for the U.K., so there you could fill in "future mother-in-law".
