Turkey set to end defenses in freedom of speech cases
Under fire for its controversial defense in a high-profile freedom of speech case at the European Court of Human Rights, Turkey will reportedly stop trying to defend itself in such cases and seek friendly settlements instead.
...
. But the foreign minister’s remarks indicated that the country might be considering a change in tactics after its much-criticized European court defense drawing parallels between Neo-Nazism and the perspectives of murdered journalist Hrant Dink.
...
Turkey has some 13,000 cases pending in the European court.
....
The Dink case made headlines earlier this month when Turkey cited in its defense a case against a leader of a Nazi organization in Europe as an example supporting its prosecution of Dink. In an early reaction, Davutoglu expressed regret and said, "As an intellectual and a minister, I could not digest this."
Following this defense, Turkey asked for a friendly settlement, but the Dink family did not accept the request.

=====
This is a right decision..
A bit late but right...
Turkey´s defense of handling Hrant Dink case at the European Court of Human Rights was shameful..

today is another anniversary of this tremendous experience in which Poland was attacked by Germans , Russians, and Slovaks and fought against intruders with honour with NO SUPPORT!!!!
a joke- an advert from the Netherlands and France

You people bore me. As long as their are other countries in the world who make mistakes, Turkey can be the crapiest country around right? (I´m not saying it IS the crapiest, but according to the logic of SOME people here it might as well be) The world has to be perfect, before you can say to Turkey "Hey, what you´re doing over there is not so cool."
The cases against Turkey are not simply brought forward by "Europe". It´s not like "Europe" is pooping on Turkey. You are TOTALLY forgetting that the people who´s rights for free speech are being defended here, are TURKISH citizens. How about stading up for your fellow Turks, instead of ALWAYS attacking Europe? The thought of Turkey, the notion of Turkey as a state is empty, is nothing. It´s the PEOPLE of Turkey who matter, and it is the PEOPLE of Turkey who you should defend.

This is exactly why I have stopped debating these issues. Many people defend their position by blame throwing...it´s a total waste of time and nothing positive ever comes of it. I stick to the "fluff" topics now!

BM, I think you´re unaware of what´s important in a nationalistic country It´s not people - it´s the country that´s the ultimate value. If people do what agrees with the state policy - it´s fine. But try questioning, having your own way - bang bang - you´re dead or persecuted and your fellow country men will think it was justified.
He, who´s not with us, is against us
