"The best thing about loving and being hurt is that you get to know what true love really is. For as gold is tested in fire, and so will love be perfected in pain."

sevmek ve incinmek hakkındaki en güzel şey gerçek aşkın ne olduğunu anlamanız. Altının ateşte denenmesi gibi aşk da acı içinde pişecektir.

Wrong definition of love, except perhaps when it relates to divine love (love for god).
How can true love between mortals contain pain? Love, by definition, is a reciprocal, joyful, madly and uncontrolable desire for one another. If the feelings are one sided, it not called love; if it ever involves pain, it ends right then and there.
Luckily new loves are always possible, after one ends.
I certainly hope you did not send its translation to any decent Turkish boy. He might think you are mazoistic.

Sorry AlphaF. You are wrong. Love can NOT be difined, not by you or anyone else. Also, it should be made clear that if you truly love someone, you can forgive them, no matter they transgress against you. And although it is not your business, and I asked for TRANSLATION,not for your comments, (but thanks for the comment!), it was NOT sent to a Turkish boy, I have a Turkish fiance (man not boy) and this text was posted on my American friend´s facebook page. I just thought it was beautiful and have a friend going through the same experience and wanted to pass it along!

When you choose to post on a public forum you will get comments......whether you want them or not.

Now what GG ?
Let us all decide on a third user name for her, collectively....one, that no one can relate to her previous two names !

I agree that you will get comments on here that you may not wish, but in the end, debates can make a good conversation. As I´ve said before, if everyone agree on everything, it would be a boring world :S
Anyway, on that note, my opinion is that love can and should contain pain or it is not love at all. Not the pain that the partner has committed but on other hands if the partner in question has become ill, died or even if you are away from the person you love (long distance or works away from home) then it is RIGHT for it to cause and feel pain or it´s like the love hasn´t existed for that person at all in the first place.
Or in another way of putting it into a great saying "you never really appreciate what/who you have in life until it´s gone"
