Hello dear !

I will call the Brazilian post office and hopefully they can give me information about the letter through telephone.

Unfortunately I live in Sao Paulo southeast of the country, and Salvador is in the Northeast of the country, very far, otherwise I could go myself to the post office.

As soon as I get information I will let you know.

regards

Merhaba bay/bayan,

I have a question - I think ayse by writing "Hello dear" addresses somebody close to her. Doesn´t "Merhaba bay/bayan" sound too formal in this context (it sounds like this to me, but I´m learner) ? Wouldn´t something like "Merhaba canım" be better here ?

@tomac

Yes, you are right. The translation is a little formal. Let´s make it a little informal

Yoksa ben postaneye kendim gidebilirdim.

Bilgiyi alır almaz seni haberdar edeceğim.

Selamlar
