You can´t use diye here. Let me explain diye for you:

You use diye to answer the questions of "What for? or "Why?" and the answer will be "because ..." or "for..." (or to do...)

For example:

Buraya niye geldin? - Why did you come here?

Seninle konuşayım diye - To talk to you

Burası niye ıslak? - Why is it wet here?

Yağmur yağdı diye - Because it rained

So diye means için(for) and çünkü(because), but it is a little informal and it usually contain the meaning for the person asking "What? you don´t know? are you seriously asking this?"

Yağmur yağdı diye - (Why do you think it is wet?) Because it rained

I hope I was helpful. Please tell me if you need more explanation.
