I just start learning Turkish...  I may ask really simple questions, but my text book does not explain the following sentence really well.  Please help me to understand this.

Ben komedi filmlerini seviyorum.

Can you explain to me what does mean by "ni" after "filmleri"?  I understand "filmleri" as a plural of film, but I do not understand this ni...

Thank you,

Thank you,

The plural of film is just filmler but because it is described as ´komedi´ it becomes a compound noun which takes the possessed suffix ´i´ ´komedi filmleri´.

The object of the verb ´sevmek´ also takes the suffix ´i´ (eg seni seviyorum )so to prevent two ´i´s from coming together the buffer consonant ´n´ is used.

so .....komedi filmlerini seviyorum.

One -i for noun clause; komedi filmler-i

Other -i for "known object" of the sentence: komedi filmleri-i

But we cannot put double i together, so we need a "buffer". The suitable buffer letter is "n" for here. So the result is: komedi filmler+i+ni = komedi filmlerini
