We can easily trace the footsteps of the Turks in history by following the trail of börek today. Etymologically, the word ‘börek’ derives from ‘börbör’ meaning cover, wrap or enfold, and is commonly used in our day over an expanse stretching from the Caucasus to the Balkans.

börbör??

Turkish has a verb meaning to cook lightly:
bört-mek

It suggest that there once was a verb (though not listed in the dictionary) like bör-mek

And it suggests that it could be a derivation of that verb:
bör-ek

It is found in most turkic languages.

It is a loanword from turkish in balkan languages, as well as in persian (bu:rak)

Some regard it a loan from other turkic languages in russian etc.

Turkish bört= "to cook lightly" or "to rise up and swell with water" in eastern Turkic.

Also proposed is mongolian bürü= "to be covered" is mentioned by some
others, there is also a similar turkic verb.

börek; açılmış hamurun veya yufkanın arasına, peynir, kıyma, ıspanak vb. konularak çeşitli biçimlerde pişirilen hamur işi:
puf böreği. kol böreği. nemse böreği.-

In Farisi ( Iranian language) it is " Burek " (u is long)..so this word is transferred into Farisi from Turkish.

i really wonder exactly from what verb "börek " derived.

BEST ONE IS "SU BÖREĞİ" (WATER BÖREK) !!
