Sabah erkenden deniz kenarına giderim. Kahvaltımı deniz kenarında yaparım. Mevsime

göre hamsi, mezgit ve istavrit yakalarım. Bazen denizde cok balık olmaz. O zaman balık

pazarından balik satın alırım.

Bizler öğeden sonraları değişik calışmalara katılırız. Üçümüzün değişik hobileri var.

Tatillerimi kitap okuyarak degerlendiririm.

Sosyal aktiviteler insanın kültürünü artırır.

Selam Deli. Yes I used the word "I spend" for "değerlendiririm" in this context.

Because in this context "spend" is only option to use. Otherwise the sentence would not make sense." Değerlendirmek = 1. to increase the value of (something).
2. to put (something) to good use, use, utilize, 3. to appraise, evaluate, 4. com. to realize (an asset)."  As you see there is no way we can adjust one of these verbs into the sentence.

"Tatillerimi kitap okuyarak değerlendiririm." 

 I spend my holidays by reading books.

 Agree. The only way to literally reflect değerlendiririm in this sentence is to say

"I make use of my holidays by reading."

But this sounds ugly. Spend is much better.

Tunci, just a couple of things to really make this an excellent translation into English of this sentence:

1. Spend doesn´t need "by". I spend my holidays reading books.

2. Turkish needs a subject for certain verbs where English doesn´t. e.g. yemek yemek - lit: to eat food - is to eat in English. örgü örüyorum = I am knitting etc

We don´t have to say reading books. Could just say I spend my holidays reading.

You only say "reading books" if you want to emphasise that you aren´t reading anything else e.g. magazines or newspapers.

Depending on the context, you may translate this sentence as:

I spend my holidays reading books

or

I spend my holidays reading
