After relatively warm January and February, in March one feels really cold in İstanbul.

Temperatures in the city will fall by 8-10 degrees Celsius and may go as low as minus 2 degrees during the first half of the week. AA photo

While southern Turkey has already embraced spring, with flowers and trees blossoming and temperatures cruising at comfortable levels, Istanbul awaits snow and is facing a potential blizzard with wind speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour, according to a warning by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Disaster Coordination Center, or AKOM.

Temperatures in the city will fall by 8-10 degrees Celsius and may go as low as minus 2 degrees during the first half of the week, according to an AKOM statement on Sunday. The center forecasted snowfall would continue at intervals until Thursday, according to an Anatolia news agency report.
