Does genel doctor means pratisyen doctor?

 Pratisyen Hekim = Medical practitioner, general practitioner

we have got a title " Pratisyen Hekim" which is in english "general practitioner".

we dont call them "genel doktor".

Technically, after studying 6 years of medicine, the doctor-to-be´s take an exam called TUS. If they pass it they choose their proficiency and start a trainee program. If they cant pass it they can start a "pratisyen doktor" in emercency services or some clinics...
