I know this a lot to ask but could someone now translate  these sentences as I am still struggling with causatives and  the more I  see them in sentences the more I will undersand ( I am  visual learner)

This thread seems to have some good stuff (located throuh the search box above).

That said, isn´t it better if you guys show some effort to us, without asking from us to do it. Maybe you should try to do it first and get corrected if necessary.

( in this lesson all the examples here given in past tense. tense is not the main point in this subject. beware of that )

firstly i want to make a mistake correct in part C   2. sentence

it is written as Annesi Feyzan´a içtiriyor.......

it must be      Annesi Fyzan´a içiriyor.

secondly lets take a look meaning of this suffix

for example :  öğretmen tahtayı sildi.  ( teacher cleaned the board. )

                   Öğretmen tahtayı  sildirdi. ( teacher had the board cleaned )

in the first sentence , ( öğretmen tahtayı sildi ) the action done by the teacher.

but in the second sentence  ( öğretmen tahtayı sildirdi. ) the action is not done by the teacher. teacher told someone to clean the board.

here is one more example.

babam arabayı tamir etti.  ( my father repaired the car. )

the action done by my father

babam arabayı tamir ettirdi. ( my father had the car repaired )

the action is not done by my father. action is done by another person ( exp. by repairman ) my father told the repairman to repair the car. and he did.

Please complete sentences by converting verbs to their causative forms, like in the examples.

A) Hasan çok tembel, hiçbir iş yapmıyor.

Hasan is very lazy, he does not do anything.

1. Hasan ev ödevini kardeşine yaptırıyor.

1. Hasan makes his brother/sister do homework. (Question - I think that it can´t be told from the original sentence if it is Hasan´s homework or some other homework, because "ev ödevi" by itself means simply "homework". Am I right about it ?)

2. Hasan ayakkabısını boyacı çocuğa boyatıyor......

2. Hasan has his shoes cleaned by shoeshine boy.

3. Hasan mektupları babasına yazdırıyor........

Hasan makes his father write letters (for him).

4. Hasan saçlarını annesine taratıyor.........

Hasan has his hair combed by his mother (makes his mother comb his hair)

5. Hasan pantolonunu annesine ve ablasına ütületiyor.........

Hasan has his pants ironed by his mother and sister (makes his mother and sister iron his pants)

B) Zeynep çok yaramaz bir kız.

Zeynep is a very naughty girl.

1.Zeynep kardeşini Frankestein maskesi ile korkutuyor........

1. Zaynep scares her brother/sister with a Frankenstein mask.

2. Zeynep kardeşini ağlatıyor...........

Zeynep makes her brother/sister cry.

3. Zeynep televizyonunu(?) sesini çok açıyor ve ablasını sinirlendiriyor.........

(Question - shouldn´t it be "televizyonun sesini" ?)

Zeynep turns up the TV volume and annoys her sister.

4. Zeynep´in kardeşi okuldan eve geliyor, kapıyı çalıyor ama Zeynep kapıyı açmıyor. Kardeşimi kapıda bekletiyor.............

Zeynep´s brother/sister comes home from school, rings the doorbell but Zeynep does not open the door and makes her brother/sister wait at the door.

5. Zeynep bahçede kurbağaları öldürüyor..................

Zeynep kills frogs in the garden.

C) Feyzan üç aylık bir bebek.

Feyzan is a three-month old baby.

(I don´t know many Turkish names - from what I know, this name is given both to boys and girls, that´s why I use many "his/her"s here.)

1.Annesi ona yediriyor...........

His/her mother feeds him/her.

2. Annesi Feyzan´a içtiriyor.......

His/her mother makes him/her drink

3. Annesi onu uyutuyor........

His/her mother puts him/her to sleep.

4. Babası Feyzan´ı güldürüyor.......

His/her father makes him/her laugh.

5. Annesi Feyzan´ı üç ay önce doğurdu........

Feyzan´s mother gave birth to him/her three months ago.

D) Dilara bir şirkette  sekreter. Onun çok sert bir müdürü var.

Dilara works in a company as a secretary. Her boss is very harsh.

1. Müdürü Dilara´ya her işini yaptırıyor............

Dilara´s chief gives her anything there is to do.

2. Müdürü Dilara´ya her gün masasını sildiriyor......

Dilara´s chief tells her to clean the desk everyday.

3. Müdürü Dilara´ya çiçekleri sulatıyor.........

Dilara´s chief makes her water the flowers.

4. Müdürü Dilara´ya her zaman özel müşterilerini aratıyor........

Dilara´s chief always tells her to call(*) private customers...

(*) For me, another meaning could be "tells her to search for (new) private customers"... However, for some reason I think it rather means "to call (by phone)" here. Hope my intuition is right here.

5. Dilara´nın müdürü Dilara´ya sözleşmeler yazdırıyor.........

Dilara´s chief makes her write down contracts.

6. Sonra Dilara bu sözleşmeleri müdüre ve müşteriye imzalatıyor......

Then, Dilara gives these contracts to her chief and a client to sign.

7. Dilara´nın müdürü Dilara´yı çok çalıştırıyor..........

Dilara´s chief makes her work really hard.
