İstanbul´da arkadaşım yaşıyor.

My friend lives in Istanbul.

Hemen tekrar o yoklamak istiyorum çünkü arkadaşım seviyorum ve İstanbul´dan çok hoşlanıyorum.

Again very soon I want to visit him because I love my friend and I like Istanbul.

Please wait for correction from the natives...coz I think there could be some mistakes in original text i.e Turkish one..as well in translated version..

Your translation is pretty much what I wanted to say Hindistan so {#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}

"My friend lives in İstanbul.  Soon I want to visit her because I love my friend and like İstanbul very much"

Looking at it again I think it should be "arkadaşımı seviyorum"
Hopefully someone will correct my turkish soon

Arkadaşım İstanbul´da yaşıyor. O´nu yakında ziyaret etmek istiyorum. Çünkü arkadaşımı ve İstanbul´u çok seviyorum.

Thank you tunci

But can you explain what is wrong with using the verbs ´yoklamak´ and ´hoşlanmak´ here?  I used sevmek and hoşlanmak to differentiate love for my friend and a liking for İstanbul.

Yoklamak is more like ´to check something  or somebody out ´.

for example - Bugün arkadaşımı yoklamaya gideceğim.

I will go to check my friend out. [pop in my friend]

it is like a short visit, to pop in, but in your sentence you travel to Istanbul not to just pop in your friend. so we got to use "to visit" or to "see" in your sentence.

hoşlanmak is not a verb to say ´to like a place´..it doesnt sound good.

it is more like to be used to express your liking somebody, its like to fancy somebody.

for example - Ahmet , Ayşeden hoşlanıyor.

                  Ahmet fancies Ayşe.

or like to do something - I like walking in the forest.

                                 Ormanda gezmekten hoşlanıyorum.

You can use ´ to like  ´, ´to love ´ -sevmek for both your friend and İstanbul.

hope this will help you ..
