Hi all,
With my trip fast approaching Nesrin has gave me some supermarkets to visit when I get there. I have a stomach problem IBS so I have to be careful what I eat I was looking for in particular Goat's milk Nes said we will have to find goat first I suppose I am a bit fussy eater but it is all down to my IBS. I just wondered if anyone can reccomend some good supermarkets in Turkey, they have a Tesco in Istanbul but it is quite a way from Nesrin's home.

In the time I was in Türkiye last year - I only saw one shop that could possibly be big enough to be called a supermarket in the UK sense of the term......this was in Datça I think......

Having said that, there were lots of "corner shops" that called themselves a "supermarket" lol

Kipa - it is 'family' of the British Tesco And it is definitely comparable to it if you talk about size and availability of different products. But i've been told Turks don't like it that much because of its name .

Anyway, if you're looking for a big shop, that's where you could go to.

In Turkey, or in İstanbul?? In İstanbul, I don't think there will be a problem about finding a big supermarket. First of all there's Carrefour, it's very big, and you can find everything, even pork. There're 7 carrefours in Istanbul, but the one in İçerenköy is the biggest I think. There're free bus services as well. You can see the list of carrefours here: http://www.carrefour.com.tr/magazalar.asp
There're Migros, Tansaş, Gima all around as well, but they're relatively smaller. And also there's Macrocenter, it's in the same cooperation with Tansaş, but it's a highclass boutique supermarket and you can find special things like organic food etc.Macrocenter Akmerkez
Suadiye, Nişantaşı,Florya, Ataşehir, in Kanyon shopping center in Levent1 etc.
If you say exactly where you are going to be, we can help more.
