Sa´dabad Camii

merhaba dear all

I saw a very gorgeous picture of the interiour of Sa´dabad camii in Istanbul.

I was very impressed by the looks and want to know more about it, where does it occur?, when was it build? by whom?...etc.

Can anyone help me?

Sadabad camii is located in Kağıthane neighbourhood of İstanbul at the European side of the Bosphorus. The mosque was commisioned by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz and constructed in 1862 by the Armenian origin architect Sarkis Balyan (probably together with his brother Agop Balyan). The architecture of the mosque is a combination of Neo-Gothic style and classical Ottoman motifs...

Thank you very much scalpel for this valuble information. I saw the resemblance between it and ortakoy camii which I think was also built by the architect Sarkis Balyan wasn´t it?

No, this time it is not Sarkis Balyan but his elder brother (?) Nigoğos Balyan, and I think the resemblance between the buildings is mainly from them being of the same architectural style: Neo-Gothic
