Reasons not go to military service - documentary about being gay

I just watched a documentary that really shocked me. As in basically all countries, you don´t have to go to military service in Turkey if you are good medical or psychological reasons why you are not fit. Apperently being gay is one of those reasons. The biggest shock was how people have to prove that they are gay. In some cases the men just had to talk to a judge, and this was evidence enough. In other cases photographic evidence was required. One man talked about how he had to show a picture of sharing a gay experience with a man. Basically a pornographic picture. The picture was denied as evidence because he didn´t smile enough.

Sick sick sick... How can you make people prove that they are gay in such a way?

I don´t approve this but is there another method to prove that you are gay?  Only claiming that you are gay without evidence can cause a lot of problems. Believe me lots of people would claim so in that situation. Even i could

First of all, I personally think that being gay is not some sort of mental illness which will prevent you from properly functioning in the army. The Dutch army has gay people in it, and it has never led to problem.

Secondly...really... No other way to prove that you are gay? I think that a conversation with a trained psychologist will be enough. I think it is just inhuman and against any basic human right to ask for men to provide pictures of their sexual actions, while smiling! As if being gay only has to do with sexual actions! I knew I was hetero sexual long before I had any sex. It´s crazy to approach this matter in this way.

I think it´s noticable that I get really upset about this It´s already hard for a lot of gay men in Turkey to come out of the closet for their sexuality, and than for some of them (luckily not all) to be subjected to this kind of behaviour is very sad.

Being gay doesn´t prevent you from serving in the army.  You have a right not to serve in the army if you are gay. You have to prove it. If you dont want to prove you can do your military duty.

In Turkey you could easily find a trained psychologist willing to approve that you are gay if you pay him enough money. I also don´t approve showing pornographic pictures as an evidence to prove that you are gay. But nobody force you to take such pictures. I think every people must have a right not to serve in millitary. This could solve the problem.

I agree.
