Hi Guys, I´ve been studying Turkish language for over 2 years, in the first 1 1/2 I had a Turk tutor who taught me most of or probably everything I know.
I moved to another country and unfortunately I had no luck finding a good Turkish teacher, actually there are a few, but their English is too limited, and its difficult to learn in a good pace, since I will apply for a Turkish University next year. I know I will never be fluent untill I spend some time studying Turkish in Turkey, but I would like to able to know as much as possible, learn useful vocabulary, the proper grammar (even though most of the Turks I know don´t like to speak in the grammaticaly correct way ^^). I´ve learned a lot, but without practicing it, and I am completely forgetting it, not that I don´t know, but when I try to speak I never remember to use all the grammar I´ve learnd so far, I usually chose the easiest way, which is normal, I need practice to feel confident enough to speak Turkish.
I´ve been trying to practice listening to Turkish music following the lyrics, trying to sing, watching Turkish and foreigner Tv shows in Turkish or at least with Turkish subtitles( fatmagulun sucu ne  is my favorite^^). Since my Turkish boyfriend is in army and poor thing is not able to help me much until he´s finished with his military service , I would like to ask for help, send me your homework, your lessons, Websites that may help with my studies, and if a good and humble soul could help through Skype, that would be a dream{#emotions_dlg.flowers}. Really, I try to avoid scams as much as possible, and I know that this is a serious Websites who get rid of most all the scams, ( at least the guys bothering me with silly messages in my inbox were all banned) I think I may be able to find a good tutor here=). Currently I study with my old arquives and two knew books which are : Turkish - an essential grammar by Asli Goksel and Celia Kerslake; and the second one isTurkish grammar self-taught by FONO Acikogretim kurumu. The first one its my favorite by the way.

Well, I think this is it, please, any arquive, any Turkish ogrenci, I would love to exchange homework, tips, practice online, I want to take it really seriously from now on. But I need your support, I won´t give up, but is more interesting when you have someone to share what you´ve learned with.
Ok that was a long message, I hope to get a few replies soon ^^
Thanks for the patience reading my post guys. You can message me inbox or here on te forum, it doesn´t really matter.
I live in Ireland is -2 hours Turkish time.  I work, so I will probably reply during the evenings=)
Thanks in advance guys. xo

This is, of course, none of my business  -  I wish you will find the help you need, ayse-eski  -  but I wish everyone here remembered teaching a language is professional work. It takes years of studying and it´s a job that should be paid for. Not every native speaker can help you. These people who share their knowledge in this site are doing it from their kind heart and it´s all charity from their side.

No one can pour the knowledge into another person´s head. If you look for something easy you will probably end up with one of those scams which you mentioned. Once books and net sites on Turkish language are available, the best thing is to sit down and be a schoolgirl or -boy again. If problems appear as they tend to appear bring them up in the forum. Someone will help you and we all benefit.

Of course a private teacher could be of much help. He can bite the material half-soft for you. If I had money which I dont have I would use it ecologically for a service like that. Until that day I will have to do it the difficult way.

What is a little shortage in this forum is that as far as I know learners do no co-operate, discuss and support each other. Everyone works on his or her own. Actually there is not even a place for discussion like that. If you put your own message in a thread someone else has started (as I am doing now) there is a danger that the original question will not be noticed.

I also wish you luck with your learning. I agree that the best way to progress, after a certain point, is to spend time in Turkey, if you haven´t got a Turkish friend to help you locally. You also need to practise listening ( which can be achieved with movies) and speaking, which is also obviously a very important part. I have found the livemocha.com site useful for some aspects of learning, and if you are selective with friends (ie pick Turkish native speakers who are thorough with helping and correcting homework) you will probably improve some more. As with any free site, there are lots of pests and opportunists, but be extra vigilant with selecting ´friends´ and report spam and pests to get them removed or blocked.

I can help you. I did my master´s degree on Turish teaching and  also want to practise my English. If you are interested you should know that my English is not brilliant. If anybody want to practice Turkish they can add me to their msn.

Thanks guys!
I am sorry if you may had take me wrong Abla, I feel like I am trying to take advantage from professionals and well-prepared teachers/tutors. Really sorry, this is not what I mean.
I am very happy with this website, and everytime I needed help they helped me. many times people have helped me through privatesmessages, so this may be the reason you have not seen people sharing as much here.
I use this websites its been 3 years, and I am really happy with it, I really don´t do a profile because I don´t want to be bothered with scams. I had 2 turkish teachers, none of them were real teachers, so I know that there is people capable out there and who love their language willing to help someone with heart wide open. I teach my mother language Portuguese for 2 people through Skype, i dont charge them, I enjoy helping if I can, unfortunately I am very busy, but its something I enjoy, I love my mother language and I am willing to help people who want to.
I am optmistic!  I just got some new material which will help me very much. I found my exercise book, I will send it to people who wants to practice. I am looking forward to start my turkish course next year in Ankara! would be wonderful if until there I learn more vocabulary and practice my listening, which is bad, I only undertand my Bf and my teachers for some reason lol. anyway. Still looking for somebody´s help^^

xoxo

For getting to go to Turkey to study, I am both happy for you, and intensely jealous!{#emotions_dlg.angel} Wish you all success.

You´re right this site is very good for getting quick and good help. Ive been trying to learn a year now for my Türk BF, however I have mostly had to learn on my own because I could not find local school that teaches Türkçe, least not in my part of Maryland.

All I can suggest is keep at it, and listen to Turkish TV and songs to practice your listening. Maybe like me, it can help you recognize more and more words and phrases all the time. Also there is a great YouTube channel called LearnTurkishChannel

She has made many speaking videos and shared music that is great for listening to learn.
