Quoting kali

you don´t die from a broken heart, you only wish you did

Kırık bir kalpten ölmezsin, sadece ölmüş olmayı dilersin.

Could you also use "arzu etmek" for wish? Or is that another context of wish? Also, "ölmüş olmayı" can you break that down for the meaning? Because if I didn´t had not seen the English first, I would probably read that sentence in the complete wrong context and structure.{#emotions_dlg.angel}

teşekkür ederim

"arzu etmek" can be used as well, but it is mostly used when you desire something.

"You don´t die from a broken heart, you only wish you did."

"Kırık bir kalpten ölmezsin, sadece ölmüş olmayı dilersin."

"you did" in the last part is a structure that we don´t have in Turkish. For this reason, we need to write verb again, especially when it has a different tense. "you did" refer to past form of the verb "to die". and it hasn´t really happened, it is only a wish refering to past. so we do not use -di suffix for this past tense, but we use -miş. "ölmüş olma" means "being dead" and I used this way to make the translation correct.

Ah anladım. thank you Faruk.

That seems like another part of Turkish I need to learn. And I am sure there is no specific list so I will learn with experience and practice. I mean some grammar structures which we have in English, but are not in Turkish, and how those would be written in Turkish.{#emotions_dlg.satisfied_nod}
