I wondered a few times what is "or" in Turkish. I even asked a Turkish person, but the answer I was given was not satisfactory, since all sentences I tried to make using "veya" as in Romance/Germanic languages were said to be wrong.

I want to ask:

Erkek sıcrayor mu?

Erkek atlayor mu?

Erkek sıcrayor veya atlayor? (wrong)

Although in this case I wouldn´t know where to place "mi" and I think veya cannot be used in such a way..

Better Turkish phrases:

erkek çocuk atlıyor mu?
erkek çocuk sıçrıyor mu?

Better Turkish phrases:

erkek çocuk atlıyor mu?
erkek çocuk sıçrıyor mu?

erkek çocuk atlıyor mu yoksa sıçrıyor mu ?----> Is the boy bouncing or jumping ?

" Or " in Turkish is " veya ", " ya da " ,"yoksa","yahut "veyahut"

note : The conjuction  "yoksa " is normally used for questions.

Eve erken mi yoksa geç mi geleceksin ? ----> Are you coming home early or late ?

Çay mı yoksa kahve mi içersiniz ? ----> Do you drink tea or coffee ?

 Note ; in questions its possible to make it without conjuction ,instead we can just use the question suffix " mi,mı,mu,mü"

Ne içersiniz ? Çay kahve mi ? ---> What would you like to drink ? Tea or coffee ?

Çay ---> a---> ı [vowel harmony]

Kahve mi ----> e ---> i [vowel harmony]

Ahmet veya Ayşe sana yardım edebilir ---> Ahmet or Ayşe can help you.

Ahmet ya da Ayşe sana yardım edebilir ----> Ahmet or Ayşe can help you.

Ahmet yahut Ayşe sana yardım edebilir -----> Ahmet or Ayşe can help you.

Thank you for your polite words, MarioninTurkey and tunci. I enjoy bathing here under the sun of Turkish hospitality but I am the member who makes more mistakes than anyone else in the site (I can easily prove it).
