Mavili, if I was your teacher (which I am not because I´m your big sister) I would advice you to clear to yourself the different turnouts of dik-participle. I see it confuses you all the time and I think as soon as you learn to recognize it many things will open for you. I know it is a little bit confusing because the suffix is often in the middle of the word and subject to many changes. Actually all its letters can change into something else according to the phonetical environment. But you will soon get used to it and it will take you a big step further.

I agree with you. I need to be get more familiar with uses for the -dik suffix other than for past plural, 1st person tense. You´re correct, when its in the middle of a word, (such as in the sentence by the OP) that can throw me off. I do understand why the k changes to a ğ, however had been puzzled why there was a -im after that. I understand now in that word, -dik is an object participle ending. 

edit; isn´t -dik also used for Adverbial clauses? (trying "-diği gün")
