Tez avrat seems creative but I think it is tezahurat

Agree.. it is tezahürat which may be used in the meaning of "strongly showing off one´s enthusiasm/excitement/feelings" in such sentences as this one..

bizim sevgimizde tezahürat olmaz means something like I don´t make a show of love.

Yeah, when I put that sentence on Google it kept saying it was tezahurat so it made me confuse if it was correcto or not. It is very intersting how native speakers spell their own language and give us poor foreingners a very hard work on guessing what they are trying to say indeed I thank you all very much for all the efforts and for your time.

hani biz arkadastik - hani biz arkadaştık - you said we were friends

hani biz sevgiliydik - you said we were lovers

 Great translation, faruk.

Just a little suggestion to the English to catch the inflection and meaning in the Turkish "hani".

Hani adds a hint of "wait a minute", "hold on", "I thought the opposite"

like the person being written to had said they were lovers. when the writer behaves like they are, the person being written to criticises them. So in defence the writer says "hani biz sevgiliydik"

"You said we were" does catch this, but in written text (unless you bold or underline the "you") an English speaker may miss it. It is a bit ambiguous as it could be read just as a statement, not an exclamation.

"I thought we were supposed to be lovers"

or "it was you who said we were lovers"

or "hold on, we were lovers weren´t we"

are all colloquial and free translations, but they catch the Turkish in an unambiguous way.

An alternative would be to use a "!" instead of "." at the end:

hani ben filozoftum - you said I was a philosopher!

hani biz arkadastik - hani biz arkadaştık - you said we were friends!

hani biz sevgiliydik - you said we were lovers!
