Faruk, please, don´t take this as a personal attack.. I am just wondering why do you write it as messenger but not mesıncır? Telephone is telefon and message is mesaj but messenger is not mesıncır, why? 

And why do you place apastrophe before the locative suffix as if the word is a proper one? And why is the locative suffix -da but not -de? What about the rule "write as you speak, read as it is written"? If you write it as messenger, the suffix must be -de, and if you write it as messıncır the suffix must be -da.. messenger´da is incorrect in any aspect.. 

I am sure you are fully aware of these rules.. Not only you but many others use the newly borrowed foreign words (particularly Englih words) as they are written in their language of origin..

I wrote Messenger because it is a proper name, name of that software. I did not want to chage it. And I added -da because of its pronunciation (mesıncır). Maybe I should have written as you said, shouldn´t I?

Messenger is not a proper name on its own (=person carrying a message, and its Turkish equivalents are ulak, haberci). If it was MSN Messenger, for example, Yahoo! Messenger or AOL Instant Messenger, it would be deemed as a proper name.. and we don´t use (´ ) with this type of names. Do we?

Secondly, there are many foreign proper names in Turkish that are written as they are pronounced in their language of origin, or as what we think they should be pronounced, or as something else. Brüksel (not bruxelles nor brussel), Budapeşte (not Budapest), Viyana (not Wien), Amerikan Doları (not U.S. Dollar) etc.. (Did you notice that it is not Amerikan Dolar´ı but Amerikan Doları?) 

OK look, the person says it as Messenger and everybody understands that the person means MSN, Yahoo or whatever Messenger program, so it is a proper name. It is a shortened proper name of MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger. And after a proper name what do we use to separate suffixes? Of course we use apostrophe.

Secondly, we can write the way we pronounce proper names for places, names, etc. but we do not have to write it as we read. Because the rule is:

"Latin yazı sistemini kullanan dillerdeki özel adlar özgün biçimleriyle yazılır. Ancak Batı dillerinde kullanılan adların okunuşları ayraç içinde gösterilebilir." TDK

"Did you notice that it is not Amerikan Dolar´ı but Amerikan Doları?"

Yes, because dolar is not a proper name. Currencies are not proper names.
