can = soul,life,person

can + ım --> my soul

canım yan + ar --> my soul burns

literally it means " my soul burns" , but the real meaning of this expression is  ;

1. to feel pain, to get hurt --> Canım yandı ---> I got hurt , I felt pain

                         Canın yanıyor mu ? ---> Does it hurt ?, I feel pain

2. to go through a bitter experience ;

3. to suffer a bitter loss.
