yeah but what about the ones who sit there with like, 1 limb...? :S

Again that is different I think that you just have to go with your instinct at the time. When I was in Tunis I had people begging for the shoes off my feet! I used to hate going out of the complex and having to face so much poverty, I used to want to cry every time.

i was like that the first time i went to tr.. it was the first time id seen beggars like that.. and so many limbless people.. do they all live in tr or sth.?? hehe...

I shouldn't laugh at that ceyda but I did naughty me!!!

If you want to give - give
If you don't - don't

You shouldn't feel pressured and you shouldn't feel guilty.

I always think that for every 3 false beggars there is probably 1 needy one - 1 out of 3 isn't bad is it?

in my country we give money in wedding instead of flower or other gifts, even its written clearly on the invitation card that they will appreciate it if u give money better than other things.

i only give money to beggar if i have extra money , eg. when my parents (surprisingly) give me money or when i got bonus from office or when my overtime is paid. the more u give the more u get, is true...once i sent money to my lil bro and next day i got 2x from office

i do the same. i can never turn my back to them, even if i know that some of them have more money than i have.
here, the favorite places of beggars are the churches and the traffic lights. u can see so many kids, even in winter, without shoes, with no heavy clothes, freezing and crying for a euro.
"begging industry" is the most profitable bussiness in greece. the government advices that we shouldn't give money to these kids, cause when we do, we encourage their parents to send them out in the streets more. If we stopped, they say, these kids would be staying at home, safe. but this is not true. their parents abuse them anyway. and if they stop sending them out to beg, they ll definately send them out to steal. and...can u say no to a 5 year old kid who is begging u for a few cents?
my kid has everything. and i feel guilty for that, whenever i see those poor people in the streets. so, the least i can do is to give a euro or two to each. even if they are not really poor, they deserve those euros, for the cold and the humiliation they suffer out there.
