A Swedish court approved Saab Automobile´s bankruptcy petition on Monday afternoon and today there was news on Swedish TV:

Turkiet vill köpa Saab Automobile

Rapport

Publicerad 20 december 2011 - 06:00

Turkey Wants to Buy Saab Automobile

The Ambassador of Turkey in Stockholm has been in contact both with the Ministry of Indusry and Saab Automobile leadership and expressed Turkey’s interest in buying the company.

- Turkey is very interested in increasing its knowledge in automobile industry, to raise the investments and become one of the big producers of cars in Europe, says Lars Holmqvist, the chief executive officer of Clepa, the bransch organization which handles the subcontractors of automobile industry in Europe.

Modern Technology

There are many car factories in Turkey but the country has no car brand of its own. That’s something the Turkish government now wants to do something about. First of all it means reaching the level of modern technology. The Turkish government, like many other possible buyers, is not interested in the factory of Trollhättan, Sweden.

- Regardless of who is eventually going to buy the whole of or parts of Saab’s establishments, there is unfortunately a very small chance that Saab stays in Trollhättan. I believe in this case Saab is going to move into the respective countries, says Holmqvist.

(I am sorry about the English, it is trivial I know.)
