I have seen merhabalar and selamlar used very occasionally - mostly by Erdinç
But I am just listening to a radiyo tiyatrosu on Burç FM and merhabalar has been used there. Not that I understand the tiyatro but I can pick out a few words and I am hoping it will give me a better 'feel' for the sound of the language!

Am I right that these plural greetings are a little more distant and polite than their singular forms?

Merhabalar bod, nasilsin?

These plural greetings are more heartfelt and they are very common in use in everyday language. They are not distant! They sound more sincere, nice and friendly.

Teşekkürler!

Can the same be done with other pleasantries - such as sağol and others?
