does anyone know what this actually means please:

Gönül cennete girmek ister ama günahlar bırakmıyor...

I can pick out words like: birakmiyor - he/she/it does not leave

ama - but

ister - wants

But I just want to know the actual meaning of the sentence.

thanks

My Try:

The heart wants to enter Paradise but won´t give up sin.

Quoting Abla

My Try:

The heart wants to enter Paradise but the sins won´t [dont] let it [allow it to do so ].

bırakmak in this case "to allow", " to let "

Gönül here is one´s wish , we all [our hearts] wish to get into heaven, but unfortunately our sins are hindering us from going to heaven.

Ok, but how can you see it? günahlar could be indefinite object, couldn´t it? Is it in the meaning of bırakmak?

Gönül cennete girmek ister ama günahlar onu bırakmıyor..

tecnically there should be "onu" [object]

now we have two sentences combined with conjunction "ama",free translation would be as;

One wants to go into heaven but sins wont leave him/her . [sins wont allow him/her to do so[to go into heaven]]
