what is the verb tense for a sentence of this nature:

I always smile when you write to me.

He runs when he sees his friend.

You say hello when someone says hello to you.

and how do these translate??

They all are simple present.

when you write to me. -> Bana yazdığında / Bana yazdığın zaman

always smile -> daima gülümserim.

You can always use verb+ dığın/diğin zaman instead of verb+diğin/dığın+da/de

I always smile when you write to me.

Bana yazdığında daima gülümserim.

He runs when he sees his friend.

Arkadaşını gördüğünde koşar.

You say hello when someone says hello to you.

Birisi sana merhaba dediğinde merhaba dersin

in Turkish sometimes there is very little difference between I do and I´m doing

For example :

Et yemiyorum = I don´t eat meat. OR

Et yemem. = I don´t eat meat [in spoken Turkish et yemiyorum can be more common ]

but if you want to say : I´m not eating meat then you´d have to say : Et yemiyorum.

since my turkish is self taught, i end up learning alot of things on a "need to know" basis, but then find it difficult to find exactly what i am looking for in a text book or online. So I really want to say:

"Thank YOu" to all who responded to this question as well as all questions.  TURKISH LANGUAGE CLASS is a great resourse and it is all of you, the community, that make it that way!!

To me there is a distinct difference between the two statements.

The first one is from a person, whose lunch menu does not include meat on that specific lunch. He is simply telling you there is no meat on the table, on that specific meal.

The second one is from a vegeterian who never  eats meat. He is, in other words, telling you that he is a vegeterian.
