Can someone tell me what does this suffix mean?

I saw it from that German show ; Turkish  for beginners (Türkisch für Anfänger)

Şişmanoğlu means Mrs. Fatso?

and also one of my friend´s surname is şahinoğlu

Thanks

We have many SURNAMEs like them in Turkey.

ŞİŞMANOĞLU = Son of fat

ŞAHİNOĞLU = Son of hawk

You´ll hear it a lot when parents speak about their son (oğlum). A single word that will let you understand a lot
