I´m having difficulties with disassembling this compound:

Oğlu Efe’yi güvenliksiz bir okulda üzerine lavabo düşmesi sonucu kaybeden Nurdan Boz, Kutlu Esendemir´e konuştu

My attempt is:

Nurdan Boz, who lost her son as a result of falling into a sink in an unsafe school, talked to Kutlu Esendemir.

That even make sense, however I´m still curious why it is said "üzerine lavabo düşmesi" instead of "lavabo üzerine düşmesi"? Usually words like üzerine, önünde, altına/da etc. are written after the word they correspond with...

Oğlu Efe’yi emniyetsiz bir okulda lavabonun üzerine düşmesi sonucu kaybeden Nurdan Boz,

[who did speak?, Nurdan Boz, Who is Nurdan Boz? The woman her son was died after a (heavy) sink fell on her son Efe, in an unsafe school]

 Kutlu Esendemir´e [to whom she spoke?, to kutlu esendemir]

konuştu. [spoke]

this is lavabo, it is quite heavy for a little child:

Üzerime lavabo düştü --> The sink fell on me.

Lavabo üzerime düştü --> The sink fell on me.

In the sentence they wanted to stress the "lavabo " by placing it just before the verb.

that can also be said in your way as well,  something like this ;

bir lavabonun üzerine düşmesi sonucu

but I would prefer the first way as in the accident " unsafely installed lavabo" plays a key role in safety negligence in the school. Therefore the attention is drawned into the unsafety by stressing "lavabo".

So it was the sink what fell on the child.

But when we say bir lavabonun üzerine düşmesi sonucu

it may sound as if the boy has fallen into sink, not sink fallen on the boy right?

Yes, it may sound that way , that´s why I said I would prefer the first one [original] , yes it is "sink" that has fallen on the boy unfortunately.

punctation is important, lets use a comma after "lavabonun"

remember the famous example of comma:

oku baban gibi eşşek olma! this is not clear,

oku, baban gibi eşşek olma! educate yourself, dont be stupid like your father!

oku baban gibi, eşşek olma! educate yourself like your father, dont be stupid!

ikicihan is right. Punctation is very important as it  stops the confusion in the meanings.
