hallelujah

i looked up in a dictionary but not satisfied, it doesnt seem english.

 Because it is not English. It´s origin is Hebrew. That means ;

Praise the Lord. Praise the God.  Hellel [praise] +  Yah [the Lord,Yahweh] = Hellelyah

hallelujah

Hebrew liturgical expression meaning "praise ye Yah" ("praise the Lord"). It appears in the Hebrew Bible in several psalms, usually at the begining or end of the psalm or in both places. In ancient Judaism it was probably chanted as an antiphon by the Levite choir. In the New Testament it appears only in Revelation 19, where it occurs four times. It was translated in the Septuagint (Jewish Greek version of the Bible made in the pre-Christian period) and became "alleluia" in the Vulgate (4th-century Christian Latin version). The early Christians adopted the expression in their worship services, and it appeared in Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Anglican, and some Protestant liturgies and in hymns.

- An exclamation of praise to God

- An expression of  relief or a smilar emotion.

Kısacası  "Allaha övgüler olsun !"

            " Rabbe övgüler olsun ! " şeklinde Türkçe´ye çevrilebilir.

Hallelujah, also spelled halleluiah, halleluyah, and the Greek and Latin form alleluia are transliterations of the Hebrew word הללו יה (Modern halleluya, Tiberian halləlûyāh) meaning "Praise ye Yah" or "Praise Jah, you people". "Praise Jah" is a shortened form of "Praise Yahweh", or, in another transliteration of the name, "Praise Jehovah", It is used in different ways in Christian liturgies. The last syllable is from the first two letters of the name of God, YHWH (also written JHVH). Hallelujah is found primarily in the book of Psalms. The word is used in Judaism as part of the Hallel prayers, and in Christian prayer. It has been accepted into the English language and has a similar pronunciation in many other languages.
