Betting Tip: Portugal – Turkey Tip 1
Portugal awaits Turkey on Saturday night at Estadio da Luz in the capital Lisbon for a friendly which turns out to be the dress rehearsal for the home side one week before the start of Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
The hosts were seeded in the so-called Group of Death together with two of the medalists from the World Cup 2010, Germany and the Netherlands, and the traditionally uncomfortable opponent Denmark. The Portuguese are currently fifth in the FIFA world rankings, but two of their rivals, the Netherlands and Germany, are above them. Portugal played two friendly matches since the success in the play-offs against Bosnia and Herzegovina in November. Both ended goalless draws – against Poland in February and against Macedonia last week. Beside Cristiano Ronaldo, Helder Postiga, Ruben Micael and Ricardo Quaresma will try to end the draught for Paulo Bento’s side, which ended three of their last four games with 0:0.
The 33rd in the FIFA world rankings team of Turkey was thrashed in the November play-offs by Croatia and will not get the opportunity to repeat their performance from the previous European championship. In 2008 Turkey lost to Germany 2:3 in a breathtaking semi-final. Under the new coach Abdullah Avci the Turks show great hesitations. The home defeat against Slovakia in February was followed by a success against Georgia and a new loss from Finland in May. A couple of days ago Turkey beat Bulgaria 2:0 on neutral ground with goals scored by striker Burak Yilmaz and defender Omer Toprak.
Portugal has to win the only serious test before the finals in order to increase self-confidence and improve the atmosphere in the team.

So much for Portugal´s self-confidence. I hope it is not totally shattered before the imminent championship games.
Whoever wrote this, must be eating his shoes right now !

The experience can only be compared to sharing the stage with Beethoven, and getting more applause than the old Master.

...well, it doesn´t mean much, does it? Friendly games are often lost by big teams. They try out new techniques and new football systems. That is why they are called friendly matches. They also try to safe some energy for the important games that are about to come. It´s a nice win, but to treat it like Turkey won the world cup is a bit of an overstatement. It would be nicer if Turkey would actually win games that are NOT friendly matches

No one said Turkey won the World Cup here... That Turkey beat Portugal with an unquestionably clear score ( Portugal in full force, in Portugal, as witnessed by 60 000 Portugese, with both Ronaldo and Nani in the game for 90 minutes) and then Ukraine within 3 days are facts.
Trying to find excuses for defeats is not sportswomanlike. Congratulations would have been sufficient...

There is nothing to be excited about. Portugal is in Euroe 2012 and we are out. That´s the fact.
Besides they played the game within our field and created many chances but couldn´t convert. Those things sometimes happen. Last example of it was Barcelona-Chelsea game this year. (Messi couldn´t score a penalty kick) or GS-FB playoff game in the TT Arena.

That is how you lose a soccer game.
