Adverbs

ADVERBS

We can categorize the adverbs into 4 groups ;


1.Adverbs in simple [stem] form [Adverbs that are in simple form]

çok, hemen, geç, daha, fazla.............


2. Derived Adverbs

The adverbs that are derived from nouns and verbs by adding derivational suffix on to their stem.

kış - ın ------>  kışın [in winter ] --------->[time adverb]

 bir - den ------> birden [suddenly ]------>[time adverb]

  er-ken    -------> erken [early ]----------->[time adverb]

gece-leyin ------> geceleyin [at night] ---->[time adverb]

an-sız-ın  -------> ansızın [suddenly]------> [time adverb]


3. Compound Adverbs

This type of Adverbs are formed by different words combined as become one word.

bu - gün ---------> bugün [today] -----------> [time adverb]

 bir - az  ---------> biraz [some, a little] ----> [Quantity Adverb]

ne - asıl ---------> Nasıl [how] ----> [Question Adverb that is formed out of Turkish word "ne" and arabic word " asıl" by dropping "e"]

ne - için ---------> niçin [what for,  why] ------> [Question Adverb]

 akşam - üstü ----->akşamüstü [towards evening] ----> [time adverb]

 

4.  Adverbs in phrasal form

This type adverbs containing a group of words that functions as a single unit.

pek az [very little, very few] ---->   [Quantity Adverb]

bir hayli [many, quite few] ------->  [Quantity Adverb]

ikide bir [constantly, continuall] ---->  [time adverb]

tek tek [ one by one] ---->  [state adverb as it states the way of action that is performed, it has been performed one by one]
