arayıp sor muyor sun aramızda kara kedimi geçti

my attempt

arayıp sormuyorsun

you were not showing concern for ...., you were not asking about .....

unfortunately the object (of the concern) is not stated, but I guess it could be  ´me´ (beni)

the next part I have guessed should be like this ......

aramızda kara kedi mi geçti?

Did a black cat pass between us? (Was it a black cat that passed between us?)

This is probably an idiom to ask whether we had some bad luck occur.

..... otherwise the meaning of your original sentence seems strange to me

aramızda kara kedimi geçti

my black cat passed between us

I guess it must be; aramıza kara kedi mi girdi?

or: aramızdan kara kedi mi geçti?

Because it is "aralarına kara kedi girmek" or "aralarından kara kedi geçmek" indeed. Check this.

It means "to have a coolness arise in a friendship"

There is nothing about "my cat" like you thought; "kedimi"

arayıp

The (y)ip/ıp/up/üp suffix has no meaning by itself. It is used to simplify sentences where there are two actions (verbs) with the same subject and tense. You need to look at the last verb used to work out the subject and tense (present/future/past)

For example

Look at these two sentences

Yarın kitap okuyacağım. Yarın mektup yazacağım.

Tomorrow I will read a book. Tomorrow I will write a letter.

In English we can combine these sentences and get ...

Tomorrow I will read a book and write a letter.

Similarly in Turkish it becomes ...

Yarın kitap okuyup mektup yazacağım.

Kalkıp gittik = We got up and left.

Doctora telefon edip randevu alacağım = I will ring the doctor and make an appointment.

If you use the search box at the top right of this page, and type in ´ip suffix´, you will get more explanations.

In your example

arayıp sormuyorsun

sormak - to ask

sormuyorsun = you are not asking

when you put arayıp before sormuyorsun, it´s like saying

(beni) aramıyorsun ve sormuyorsun

You are not calling and you are not asking (about me)

The ıp suffix saves repeating the longer suffixes
