I found the following sentence in another site, is there something wrong with the translation or it is just me don´t get it:

"i need you - bana sen lazımsın"

Thanks,

"i need you - bana sen lazımsın"

The translation is correct and the only possible in my opinion.

They say it the other way round, something like

                          ´For me you are a must.´

´Lazım´ is Arabic origin word in active participle form and that means "necessary".

Lazım olmak ----> to be necessary

In your example , literally "Bana sen lazımsın´ --> You are necessary for me.

therefore it indirectly does mean the same as the things and people that we need are necessary for us too HOWEVER ;

when we say to someone "Bana lazımsın´

1. it is lacking emotions

2. it is more like I need you in beneficial manner , for example ;

Bu işi bitirmem için bana lazımsın ---> [lit.You are necessary for me to finish this job]

                                                   [To be able ]to finish this job I need you.

Havaalanına gitmem için araba lazım ---> I need a car to go to the airport.

Havaalanına gitmek için araba lazım ----> Car is necessary to go to the airport.

3. its Turkish equalent is "gerekli"

4. Although "ihtiyaç´  is an arabic word it does have deeper effect emotionally [not only in beneficial manner] when we say " Sana ihtiyacım var´ ---> I need you

HOWEVER , in songs and in fashion love sayings it does mean as Abla said it can mean ; You are a MUST for me.
