Ferman Padişahın Dağlar bizimdir The order is padişah´s, the mountains are ours.
Kalktı göç eyledi Avşar elleri Avşar folk stood up and migrated Ağır ağır giden eller bizimdir This slowly going folk is ours. Arap atlar yakın eyler ırağı Arab horses make the distances shorter Yüce dağdan aşan yollar bizimdir The roads pass over the grand mountain are ours.
Belimizde kılıcımız kirmani The swords on our belly are kirmani (a type of sword) Taşı deler mızrağımızın temreni The head of our spears bore stones Hakkımızda devlet etmiş fermanı The state has given the order about us Ferman padişahın dağlar bizimdir The order is padişah´s, mountains are ours
Dadaloğlu’m yarın kavga kurulur Dadaloğlu tomorrow there will be a fight Öter tüfek davlumbazlar vurulur Guns will sing, paddle boxes will be hit Nice koç yiğitler yere serilir Many strong brave man will fall dead Ölen ölür kalan sağlar bizimdir Many will die but the remaining will be ours.
Dadaloğlu
This is a very famous folk poem. It tells the difficult situation of Dadaloğlu´s tribe and their objection against the policy of the state which was against nomadism. They even want to take the risk of fighting against state not to obey the the order of padişah.

Thank you for this, gokuyum. The inevidable change of lifestyle is often the motif of folk poetry. Sadly it also reflects the misery and loss of those who would like to stick to the past.

Benden selam olsun Bolu Beyi´ ne Greetings from me to Lord of Bolu(a city)
Benden selam olsun Bolu Beyi´ ne Greetings from me to Lord of Bolu Çıkıp su dağlara yaslanmalıdır. He must climb and lean on those mountains. Ok gıcırtısından kalkan sesinden Because of arrows´ creeks and voices of shields Dağlar seda verip seslenmelidir. Mountains must cry and yell Düşman geldi tabur tabur dizildi Enemies came and aligned in battalions Alnımıza kara yazı yazıldı. Bad omen appeared on our foreheads Tüfek icat oldu mertlik bozuldu After gun had been invented, bravery died Eğri kılıç kında paslanmalıdır. Scimiters mustn´t rust in their sheaths Köroğlu düşer mi yine sanından, Will Köroğlu befit his dignity again? Ayırır çoğunu er meydanından, He will seperate many from battlefield. Kırat köpüğünden , düşman kanından With foam of Kırat* and blood of enemy Çevrem dolup şalvar ıslanmalıdır.I must be surrounded and my shalwar must get wet.
*Kırat: White Horse, name of the Köroğlu´s horse.
This poem tells the fight of Köroğlu with cruel Lord of Bolu. He blinded Köroğlu´s father. And Köroğlu wants his revenge. But he is in disadvantage because men of lord of Bolu uses guns. But he and his men have scimiters. But he is still confident of glory.

Bir Ayrılık Bir Yoksulluk Seperation and Poverty
Vara vara vardım ol kara taşa Afterall I arrived at that black stone Hasret ettin beni kavim kardaşa You made me miss my people and brothers Sebep ne gözden akan kanlı yaşa What are the reasons for tears falling down from eyes Bir ayrılık bir yoksulluk bir ölüm Seperation, poverty and death. Nice sultanları tahttan indirdi They dethroned many sultans Nicesinin gül benzini soldurdu They made many flower-like skins wilt Nicelerin gelmez yola gönderdi They sent many people to the road with no turn Bir ayrılık bir yoksulluk bir ölüm Seperation, poverty and death Karacoğlan der ki kondum göçülmez Karacaoğlan says I settled, I can´t go. Acıdır ecel şerbeti içilmez The sherbet of death is bitter, it can´t be drunk Üç derdim var birbirinden seçilmez I have three troubles, not possible to choose one Bir ayrılık bir yoksulluk bir ölüm Seperation, poverty and death.

El Çek Tabib El Çek Yaram Üstünden Get your hand away from my wound, doctor!
El çek tabib el çek yaram üstünden Get your hand away from my wound, doctor! Sen benim derdime deva bilmezsin You don´t know the cure of my pain Sen nasıl tabibsin yoktur ilacın What kind of a doctor are you? You don´t have medicine. Yaram yürektedir sarabilmezsin My wound is on my heart, you can´t bandage it. Sana derim sana ey kalbi hayın I say you, o false-hearted! Kimseler çekmesin feleğin yayın May nobody pull the string of fate´s bow Yıkıp harab ettin gönül sarayın You demolished and destroyed the palace of heart. Alıp bir taşını koyabilmezsin You can´t take and put back even one stone of it. Emrah´ım dinledin benim sözlerim I am Emrah, you listened to my words. Muhabettin can evimde gizlerim I hide your love in home of my heart Ne duruyon ağlasana gözlerim Why do you stop, cry my eyes. Bir daha yarini görebilmezsin You can´t see the beloved one more time.

Whatever disaster strikes us the worst shock always takes about fifteen minutes. After that we gradually begin to feel better if we don´t continue the pain artificially. Our wish to live is so strong. "Time is the cure" is a psychological fact.

Dedim ölüm vardır, dedi aynımda I said "There is death" She said "In my eyes" Dedim zulüm vardır, dedi boynumda I said "There is cruelty" She said "On my neck" Dedim ak sineler, dedi koynumda I said "White breasts" She said "On my chest" Dedim sevebilsem, dedi ki yoh yoh.
