Ailecek. Aile is family... I don´t follow this ending

The cık/çik form of suffix is used after nouns to form a sense of smallness, affection, sarcasm or contempt according to one of my textbooks.

kitap .... kitapçık (little book)

ada ..... adacık (little island)

Ali .......Alicik (little Ali, good old Ali)

you will also see this form as a term of endearment amongst good friends, most often used by women,

Henryciğim = my dear Henry becomes Henrycim as colloquial speech

the final k may drop from some nouns

minik (tiny) ....minicik (very tiny)

ufak (little) ..... ufacık (tiny)

köpek (dog) ...... köpeçik (cute little puppy)

so I guess ailecek means my dear little family

but the use of the ´e´ worries me,

and one dictionary also gives the meaning of

ailecek as ´with the whole family´ so maybe this is different. 

Henry here -cak/cek is a derivational affix which makes new nouns from nouns and it makes them function like an adverb in a sentence. If you ask the verb "how", you will get the answer "with the family"

Turkish grammar is so vast and there are so many suffixes. And they don´t always function same in different sentences. If I was a Turkish learner, I would give up easily and would run 1000 km away from Turkish. You are my heroes

I obviously did not search hard enough to find information about this useful cek/cak suffix.

Tunci has probably posted something about it in the past, but this site badly needs a reference section for the best posts about specific Turkish grammar suffixes. Using the search engine sometimes doesn´t help.
