Sonuçta o binlerce kelimeden, günlük hayatta kullanılan kelime sayısı bin´i bulmuyor bile. Bize "i don´t" diye öğretip, "i not" diye konuşan British English ve konuştuğu gibi "nite, in da" yazan bir American English var ortada. Fazlası için kasmak neye yarayacak ki?

Looking through the list I would say that any native English speaker with a reasonably good education would know and use all these words although not necessarily on a daily basis.  Least likely to be used in my opinion - nadir and knell.

Interesting list. Most words would rarely be used on the streets.

I have never used or heard of nadir before. I would just use low point.

The low point of my day occurred when I noticed my car was stolen.

Predilection is another word that I have seldom seen or heard. I would just use preference for.

Agreed Henry, me too.  I just meant that any native English speaker with a reasonable level of education would be aware of the meaning of most of these words.   I did say that I thought ´nadir´ is not commonly used but I have come across it quite often in crosswords.
