I´m curious about how Turks celebreate new years eve? Do people have time off from work this day and the next day? I heard there are gifts involved. If so, how and when are they given?

Last night I was using my PC and I heard fireworks at 23:58 (maybe my clock is not correct). And that was all I heard. I guess nobody was interested in celebrating new year in my neighborhood. So was I... That´s my new years eve
