             Some words that we use incorrectly.

Sometimes , we say [spell] or pronounce incorrectly some words in our daily conversations.

Incorrect            Correct

 şarz                   şarj

 

şarter               şalter

 

ahçı                 aşçı

 

sarmısak          sarımsak

 

 nisbet               nispet

 

çiflik                çiftlik

 

 zalim               za:lim  [ "a" is read longer]

 

ıstırap              ızdırap

 

zalim               za:lim [ "a" is read longer]

 

Yunanlı            Yunan

 

acenta             acente

 

bilimum            bilumum

 

restorant          restoran

 

adele                adale

 

 istakoz              ıstakoz

 

 fasülye              fasulye

 

 harfiyat             hafriyat

 

 gaste, gazte        gazete

birşey or bir şey  -  or are they two different things?

they are same thing. officially "bir şey" is the right form. but i support and use "birşey"

No they are not two different things. It should be written as "bir şey"

 

Actually the rule for it is really easy. The word "şey" is always written apart from the previous word.

I agree with friends. Both ways means same however "şey"  should be written seperately. I sometimes write it as one word

Maybe that is what has been confusing me: sometimes very good language users write it as one word.

my friends write it as one word (as well as istiyormusun..etc..) even I found it in grammar books like two sepparate words...
