I thought it would interesting to hear what goals people have. Whether there personal or career orientated. I'll go first.

Personal
1. Don't procrastinate (or make excuses, etg.. I'll clean later)
2. Make a grocery list every week (I end up buying things I never use, eat or have 10 of them). Also point, don't go when your hungry.
3. Learn to save better. (Refrain from buying that 100th pair of shoes.
4. Be a better listener to others. (I tend to think about what I'm going to say back, instead of fully listening.)
5. Stop after the first bowl of icecream. (My weakness)
6. Travel more (expand my horizons)

Career
1. Get my SPHR Certification (Senior Professional Human Resource Certification) I have my PHR currently.
2. Learn all aspects of Human Resources
3. Grow within my organization
4. Learn other languages to improve my marketablity
5. Learn Turkish, since I have many friends here.
6. Network

Peronal
- to be more understanding of peoples differences and accomodate them

- to learn to play piano so i can get this music out of my head for other people to hear

- to be more independant in life and not rely on others to support me (oh I am embarrassed by this)

Career
- to have one (haha)

- to go to university but first to know what to do there :-S

Bayan those are great goals, thanks for sharing them. I hope you are successful in achieving them. It looks like we are the only ones with goals here.

This seems like a nice thread! Also helpful for me to remind me of my goals if I seem to forget them

Personal

01. Spend more time with my family. After all, I start to appreciate them more and more now I'm about to live far away from them.

02. Be more supportive to Kadir. For some reason I always want him to comfort me when I'm sad, but as soon as he is sad, I freak out just because I don't want him to be sad! Obviously me freaking out is not a good method to cheer him up.

03. Play more piano than I used to. I will miss it in Türkiye and I know it's one of 'my features' that Kadir is proud of, though I have let it down for such a long time. One day I will miss the cold touch of unplayed keys on a lonely summernight.

04. Finish all the books of Yaşar Kemal in either English or Dutch by the end of summer.

05. Do more sports (I don't do any )

06. Learn to remember what Bliss said: failure is an event and not a person.

07. Stop being paranoid and try to find reasons why people wouldn't like me. Done that to Kadir for a long time and it drove him crazy as it didn't really prove my trust in him. But I'm kinda succeeding already at achieving this goal

Career

01. Finish my summerjob and regular part-time job properly and make enough money to save up a 1000€ by the end of this summer.

02. Study Turkish very well so that I am able to use (not only know) the very basics in October, then go on on a higher level till I hopefully speak native after the New Year.

03. Read Turkish children's books from 4 years up to highschool literature These ought to be read in Turkish! Then start to read the Turkish literature that I read translated in their original language.

04. Pass the YÖS exam and enter the Turkish Language faculty of Ege Üniversitesi.

Aww what a great thread.

Personal -

1) To show my parents how much I love them more and spend more time with them both, because I know in life it's imperative to show how much you value those you love.

2) To be an air hostess, not just for career but for myself, it's been my dream now since I was 5 years old.

3) To exercise more.

3) To stop giving up on things.

4) In sports and games to stop being a bad loser and getting angry

5) To save money.

6) To stop becoming too depressed and intense all the time

7) In my life to help as many people as I possibly can, whether it's little things or big things, and to donate to charities etc.

8) To get my own motorbike. (If I was a boy I'd want to be like Valentino Rossi or Marco Melandri, but I guess that's not going to happen )

9) To stop being so shy and scared of people, because I need to communicate and improve my customer service skills, especially in the line of work I'm aspiring to do!

Career/ Education

1) To acquire the grades I'm aiming for.

2) To learn Turkish.

3) To work in an airport firstly, then move on to become an air hostess. Also I must keep trying even if I'm rejected by some - which is highly likely.

4) To not let any opportunities to learn pass me by.

Quoting teaschip:

Make a grocery list every week

I've solved that problem - I have a web based shopping list that lists both the items we need and also a list of things I always want to keep in stock which acts as a reminder for essential things.......

When I go shopping I just get out my WAP phone and there is my shopping list - and I can cross the things off while in the supermarket......
