Bringing Istanbul Comforts to NYC

Hi friends,

Looking for some advice. I´ve started seeing a wonderful guy from Istanbul, and though he´s very happy in the states, he admits that at times there are some things about home that he misses.

I want to surpirse him by attempting to re-create a few of the comforts of Istanbul here.  I live in NYC, so getting at least semi-decent Turkish food that´s almost authentic isn´t a challenge.  (I´d cook but I know my limits - let´s be real!) so I´m going to order in a bunch of stuff.  Is there anything else - custom/tradition-wise, that you all could suggest doing?  Something that maybe Americans would never think of, but that people from Istanbul have unconciously built into their routines?  I do always try to have tea on hand, but I feel like there has to be more than just tea and pastries and food that I can do.

Thanks all, any suggestions you all have could be helpful.
