Merhaba

I began learning Turkish a year ago just for fun, by myself with nobody´s help. I had a good idea of Turkish rules but now I´m getting confused

For example,

In Turkish if you wanna say "a box of chocolates", shouldn´t it be:

çikolata kutusu?

How come some people say kutu çikolata? Isn´t this wrong?

A box of chocolates in Turkish will be written like this: "chocolate box" , or like this: "chocolate´s box". Kutu çikolata will be like saying "box chocolate". Makes no sense.

My other confusion is with prophet titles.

Prophet Jesus in Turkish is "Isa peygamber"

Why isn´t it "Peygamber Isa"?

Because in Turkish, if you say King Faisal you will say "Kral Faysal"

If you want to say Sultan Faisal, you will say "Sultan Faysal"

But how come when you want to say Prophet Isa, you put the word "prophet" after the name? Shouldn´t the title come before the name?

Thank you

Merhaba

I began learning Turkish a year ago just for fun, by myself with nobody´s help. I had a good idea of Turkish rules but now I´m getting confused

For example,

In Turkish if you wanna say "a box of chocolates", shouldn´t it be:

çikolata kutusu? No. It means "chocolate box"

a box of chocolate = 1 kutu çikolata

in general

x y z = x y of z

2 bardak su = 2 glasses of water

1 fincan kahve = 1 cup of coffe

3 kutu şeker = 3 boxes of sugar

etc.

How come some people say kutu çikolata? Isn´t this wrong? No

A box of chocolates in Turkish will be written like this: "chocolate box" , or like this: "chocolate´s box". Kutu çikolata will be like saying "box chocolate". Makes no sense. Why do you think so. It doesn´t work like that in Turkish

My other confusion is with prophet titles.

Prophet Jesus in Turkish is "Isa peygamber"

Why isn´t it "Peygamber Isa"? Why should it be?

Because in Turkish, if you say King Faisal you will say "Kral Faysal" Yes but

If you want to say Sultan Faisal, you will say "Sultan Faysal" Yes but it´s alien in Turkish maybe an Arabicism

But how come when you want to say Prophet Isa, you put the word "prophet" after the name? Shouldn´t the title come before the name? No

We usually say titles at the end:

Ali Bey

Mine Hanım

Hasan Usta

Veli Bakkal

Nasrettin Hoca

etc.

That more natural for us.

Thank you No problem
