Yes, it is possible. 

Otel rezervasyonu yaptırmadığı [yapmadığı] için, bu gece havaalanında kalması gerek. [Or -->kalmak zorunda]

I don´t think its less common, its just a personal choice which one to use. 

Turkish is a flexible language Yarvik.
