I like the idea of lighting a candle for someone or something. In England it is not something that is generally done like other European countries which I think is sad. The first time I saw candles lit was in Austria in the grave yard. Now it is becoming more common in England. When my brother-in-law died in a car accident we lit a candle for him. It somehow keeps the memory alive.

I always find that lighting a candle evokes great sadness in myself, I dont how others feel, cos to me it symbolises death or the loss of a loved one/ones. Always the white candles. What does it symbolise for others?
But then you get the occasion when you light a candle for romance (the sort that smell nice) and a romantic evening with nothing but candle light and soft music.
