In English we use the word "for" a lot. For instance I can say "Is this for me?" or "This hat is for you." or even "What is that for?". I am trying to figure out if "için" is the word I need for this or if there is some other word or construction (i.e. a suffix) that is used for this purpose. Any help would be appreciated.

We use için mainly for the purposes below ;

İçin ---> For

Senin için ne yapabilirim ? ---> What can I do for you ?

Arabayı iki saat için kiraladım ----> I rented the car for two hours.

Bu masa için kaç lira ödedin ? ----> How much liras you paid for this table ?

için ---> Because

Yağmur yağdığı için gelmedik ---> We didnt come because it was raining.

için ---> In order to

Her yaz kilo vermek için diet yapar ---> He/She goes on diet every summer in order to lose weight.

için ----> about

Bu kitap için ne düşünüyorsun ? ------> What do you think about this book ?

için ---->  to

Senin için ne anlama geliyor --------> What does it mean to you ?

Sen benim için herşeysin -----------> You mean everything to me.

Alternatively ,we use -dative marking -a  in place of  için  when we say " for  he/she/it "

Sana  hediye  aldım. ---> I bought a present for you.

Bu ayakkabı on küçük  gelir ---> This shoe[s] are small  for him.

Mutfağa  yeni bir dolap lazım. ---> We need a new cupboard for the kitchen.
