Yes, almost correct.

should be "dinlemeye" with a case suffix.

BTW, I guess the English sentence was meant to be "I need to start listening to some slow Turkish dialogues!" with 'to' instear 'or'.

Sometimes dictionaries don't show that. I don't have the case shown for "başlamak" in my Redhouse, but when you check the word "start" the examples have "-a" ending. Besides, I think all verbs govern a certain case so the only way to see what case it is you need to look up a word in an English-Turkish dictionary if Turkish-English gives no answer. Have a look at the entry for "start" in Redhouse:

The dictionary linked from this site is usually very good at providing the noun states for verbs - as you will see başlamak is shown without noun state whereas sevmek is rightly shown as taking the /ı/ state.
